How to rotate a PDF

  1. Drop in a PDF and every page appears as a preview thumbnail.
  2. If the whole document is crooked, use the ↺ Rotate all left 90° or ↻ Rotate all right 90° buttons at the top. If only some pages are off, click the button on just those pages. Each click turns 90 degrees, and the previews update instantly.
  3. Click Save rotated PDF and a new file (yourname_rotated.pdf) is downloaded with the rotation applied. The original stays untouched.

Why this tool?

Scanned and photographed PDFs come out sideways or upside down all the time. Rotating them in your PDF viewer only fixes what you see in that moment — the file itself is unchanged, so whoever you send it to still opens a sideways document. Online rotation services solve that, but most of them upload your file to their servers first, and many add logins or daily usage caps on top.

ThisIsMyPDF's Rotate PDF handles everything — previews, rotation, and saving — entirely inside your browser. Your file never leaves your device, so sensitive documents like contracts, medical records, and ID scans stay private, and with no upload wait even a document dozens of pages long finishes in seconds. When you save, the tool changes the rotation property stored in the PDF itself, not just the on-screen display, so the corrected orientation sticks in every viewer and in print. No usage caps, no size limits, and no watermarks either.

Because you work from live previews, there is nothing to guess. Spot the sideways pages by eye, turn them until they look right, and only then save.

💡 Tip: For a document scanned completely upside down (180 degrees), click a rotate-all button twice. If you also need to delete pages or change their order, do it all on one screen with Delete, Reorder & Rotate PDF Pages.

When to use it

Good to know

This tool does rotation only. If you also need to delete or reorder pages, Delete, Reorder & Rotate PDF Pages combines all three on one screen. To combine several files, use Merge PDF; to save pages as images, use PDF to JPG. Password-protected PDFs cannot be edited for security reasons — remove the password first.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files really never uploaded to a server?

Correct. Everything — generating previews, rotating, and saving — happens entirely inside your browser. Open your browser's network tab and you will see no file upload requests. Sensitive documents like contracts and ID scans are safe to use here.

Can I rotate just one page?

Yes. Click the ⟳ button under any page preview to rotate only that page in 90-degree steps. The rest of the document stays untouched, so you can fix a few sideways pages without affecting the others.

Can I fix a document that was scanned upside down (180 degrees)?

Yes. Rotation works in 90-degree steps, so clicking the same button twice gives you 180 degrees. If the whole document is upside down, click one of the rotate-all buttons at the top twice and check the previews to confirm the orientation.

Will the rotation stick in other PDF viewers?

Yes. The tool changes the rotation property stored in the PDF file itself, not just how it looks on screen. The saved file opens in the corrected orientation in Adobe Reader, browser viewers, and on phones, and it prints that way too.

Can I also delete or reorder pages here?

No. This tool is dedicated to rotation. If you need to delete pages or change their order, use ThisIsMyPDF's Delete, Reorder and Rotate PDF Pages tool, which handles deleting, moving, and rotating on one screen.
